'UNPALATABLE': ISIOLO SQUASHES AUKOT'S DREAM AS MCAs UNANIMOUSLY REJECT 'PUNGUZA MIZIGO' INITIATIVE!

Isiolo MCAs have unanimously rejected Ekuru Aukot's Punguza Mizigo Initiative calling it 'unpalatable' and further allege that the bill 'sought to erode the gains realised by promulgating the New Constitution in 2010' which they maintained doesn't need any changes.
Isiolo County Assembly In session. The MCAs unanimously rejected Aukot's Punguza Mizigo Initiative terming it 'unpalatable'.

The speaker had earlier appointed a special committee to look into the bill and public participation was duly carried out at the Mulata Restaurant which wasn't without controversy as some MCAs allegedly resort to blows after disagreements.
One of the members of the public, Adesh Tall(standing) elaborates his point during the public participation session at Mulata Resort.

However, the nine who were present during the debate shut down the bill following counsel from the committee who said the bill was technically impossible to implement as it seeks to abolish the constituencies and counties which they said will be a major setback for the country at large.
The fact that the bill also seeks to do away with nomination of women, youth and PWDs to Senate, National and County Assemblies was ill conceived and clearly shows 'the bill passes of as a populist agenda and not objectively thought through'.
Charri MCA Ali Dima: one of the MCAs who were present at the public participation to collect the views of the public on the initiative.

“The bill has no good intentions for the citizens of the country and is aimed at removing the gains we have already realized from our current constitution,” said Mr Isack Fayo, who is the MCA or Kinna and the majority leader of the assembly-(nation.co.ke).

Isiolo is just one of the many county assemblies across the region who have unapologetically dashed Mr. Aukot's intention to force through 'a constitutional amendment through popular initiative' where he sought and secured the million signatures required by the IEBC but the county assembly stage is since proving a nightmare as only Uasin Gishu county assembly has unanimously passed the bill.
Noor Juma(Jumaboy), a local youth leader makes his submission before the committee at Mulata Resort.

A number of Tanga Tanga luminaries who have voiced support for the initiative have also gone mum in the recent days as the initiative was rejected in a number of counties.
Isiolo women rep Rehema Jaldesa was one of the key political figures who publicly voiced support for the initiative but is yet to voice her opinion about the rejection of the bill in her hometurf. Isiolo MCAs have maintained that the rejection of 'Punguza Mizigo' doesn't imply that they automatically support BBI and said they will scrutinise it with the same enthusiasm that they did with 'PMI' and see if it has any positive impact on the society'
Isiolo women Rep Rehema Jaldesa was a key supporter of Aukot's 'PMI' but has not made any comment yet after the bill was shot down in her home turf.

Pundits have proclaimed doom for the initiative as Isiolo and Wajir become the latest to 'outrightly' reject the initiative.

A number of Isiolo pundits have however pointed an accusing finger at the assembly for 'playing cat and mouse games about the public participation as the public wasn't notified on time' and that 'the MCAs acted on their own conviction and have not taken the people's opinion on the matter into account' which they said was 'an act of selfishness' which shall 'haunt them for the rest of their sorry lives.'
