Isiolo Governor Dr. Mohamed Kuti has appealed for 'emergency intervention' from the Ministry of Devolution, Arids and Semi-Arid Lands(ASALs) headed by C.S Eugene Wamalwa after making a visit to the affected areas of Iresaboru to assess the situation which he says is worsening by the hour and the relief food distributed by the County Government could run out at any point', and that 'the sooner measures are taken to contain the situation, the better,' he insists.
The governor who was accompanied by Speaker Hussein Halake and Cherab MCA Mr. Mohamed Jirmo issued a directive to construct gabions along the river 'as an emergency intervention geared towards curbing further loss of human and animal life as well as destruction of property.'
Following appeals made to him(Kuti) in a public baraza where the locals reported 'several livestock deaths caused by the floods', he gave out another directive to roll out 'a county wide vaccination against the Rift Valley Fever(RVF) to contain an increase in the loss.'
He further called on C.S Wamalwa to intervene by 'providing more relief food and Air Chopper services to hasten its distribution.'

According to reports that ICBN received from the affected areas, the situation is worsening and things could further get out of hand should their be an outbreak of communicable diseases as locals have no access to clean water and sanitary services which were destroyed by the floods.
