Isiolo senator Fatuma Dhullo has called on the National and County Governments to take urgent measures in a bid to arrest the escalating hunger situation in certain parts of Isiolo county.

She said this while distributing relief foodstuffs to drought ravaged residents of Oldonyiro, Gambela,Mabatini and surrounding areas. The senator opined that a number of households are at risk of starvation as the drought situation is getting worse everyday. The situation is also compounded further by the acute water shortage crisis which has hit Isiolo town and surrounding estates for the first time in many years.

She also posted the following on her official Facebook page on Sunday quote
''The drought situation is very dire and requires quick intervention from the national government as well as the county government.
The situation has been made worse by the water crisis which has hit Isiolo town for the first time and several homes have dry taps. The county government has done very little to address the water problem.'' unquote.

The senator has also challenged the County Government to account for the Kes 447 million set aside for Drought/Emergency intervention which she says would have come in handy to the aid of multitudes in Isiolo who have not had regular meals for months.

She further assured the people that her office will continue reaching out to various stakeholders until such a time that the relief food has reached every corner of Isiolo county.
