ISIOLO: GOVERNOR KUTI CALLS FOR CONCERTED EFFORTS IN IMPROVING EDUCATION STANDARDS

Isiolo Governor Governor Kuti earlier this afternoon called on all education stakeholders to make concerted efforts to ensure the poor educational statistics are reversed citing poor performance by both KCPE and KCSE students during last years national examinations.
He was speaking during a forum to improve education standards held at Isiolo Boys' Secondary school which was attended by various education stakeholders from across the county.

He said if proper steps are not taken at this early stage to reverse the situation as it is, there is a possibility of some people missing out on the current projects that the county government and the national government are implementing at the moment. He says most of the institutions that will be commissioned in the near future shall need skilled labour emphasizing the need to get more students making a transition to the colleges and universities and at all levels of education.

Gov Kuti also cited a number of challenges e.g poor infrastructure, absenteeism, inadequate staff and learning facilities that he says may have resulted to the poor performance at both primary and secondary levels of education.

He says his government shall go out of its way to invest in the education sector since it is one of the key ways in which poverty can be alleviated or its effects mitigated.
He says the county government has disbursed more than Kes 35M in bursaries alone and has radically reformed the early childhood education(ECDE) which is a devolved function.

The function was also attended by a number of MCAs which include Wabera ward rep Abdi Duba who serves as the chair of education committee at the Isiolo county assembly.
