A boy cycling his bycicle in the dirty pool covering Fakir Bridge:The residents say they are unable to take kids to school when it rains because the bridge gets flooded! |
Residents in Bulla Pesa are about to go to the streets to protest what they say is neglect by the Isiolo County Government which is led by Governor Dr. Mohamed Abdi Kuti-a darling of the Bulla Pesa ward, by far, the most populous ward in Isiolo county.
Bulla has overtime proved itself as the most important ward in Daktari Kuti's politics but they are now fed up saying the state of infrastructure in the area are nothing to write home about.
The pictures you see are those of The Fakir Bridge which is the only infrastructure connecting the Bulla residents to the town. Any person who has lived in Bulla knows how important this bridge is.
It is the determiner of whether you will make it to town for your business and also for the kids to make it to school, when it rains, it usually overflows amd has once claimed the lives of at least 3 persons including a school going kid.
The sad part is that this bridge was refurbished just a few months ago and the contractor paid for the full amount of kes 4.5 million but look what it is today!
Those familiar with the issue say the contractor was just a tenderpreneur who was illegally enriched by the ICG for doing nothing. ''All the contractor did was carry murram from wherever and dumping it there, no construction or rebuilding took place.ICG conspired with tenderpreneurs to fleece us''. Said Abdi wario, a resident whose children were unable to make to school this morning following the rains that pounded the area last night.
The residents are now calling the county government especially the governor Kuti who they said is the only person they would hold accountable should their plight not be considered if/when he seeks reelection come the year 2022.
''We elected governor Kuti, we do not know all these people telling us a lot of nothing. Should he renege on his promise of changing our lives, I humbly urge him to stay 100 miles from Bulla Pesa in 2022. We cannot be enslaved forever.''
The residents are also concerned as to why the only public dispensary in the area is yet to be operational despite being constructed shortly after Dr. Kuti was elected for the first time as the MP for Isiolo North, almost 20 years back!
Good luck to the people of Bulla as they seek answers from 'their' Government!
